Art Warrior at Atua Midtown Cebu

Art Warrior Live Painting Competition: A Celebration of Creativity in Cebu

On Saturday, December 7th, the vibrant city of Cebu played host to the first-ever Art Warrior Live Painting Competition, an exhilarating event that showcased the incredible talent of local artists. Held at the up and coming Atua Midtown in Cebu City, the competition brought together 12 artists from Cebu and beyond, who faced off in an intense 20-minute live painting challenge. The enthusiastic audience of about 150 art lovers added to the electric atmosphere, voting for their favorite artists and paintings throughout the evening.

The event was a resounding success, thanks to the generous support of its sponsors. Atua Midtown, owned by Allen Tan, graciously provided the venue, while Art Caravan, led by Francis Lim, supplied the paints that brought the artists’ visions to life. The event was masterfully hosted by the charismatic Zak Villar, with the talented DJ Nadine Garcia providing the perfect musical backdrop to keep the energy high.

A Night of Talent and Passion

The competition was fierce, as the 12 participating artists demonstrated their creativity, technical skill, and composure under the pressure of time. The audience’s votes determined the winners, and the results were a testament to the exceptional talent present in Cebu’s art community.

Luke Galon, a Cebu-based artist, emerged as the Art Warrior Champion of the Night. His remarkable artwork and captivating style earned him the top prize of PHP 15,000 in cash and a PHP 5,000 voucher from Art Caravan. Luke’s victory also secured him a spot in the highly anticipated Art Warrior Grand Final in December 2025, where he will compete for PHP 100,000 in cash and a solo exhibition at a renowned art gallery in the Philippines.

Ryan Pesa, hailing from Sagay City, claimed the title of 1st Runner-Up. His impressive performance won him PHP 10,000 in cash and a PHP 2,000 voucher from Art Caravan. Like Luke, Ryan earned a guaranteed place in the Grand Final, ensuring more opportunities to shine on the national stage.

A Platform for Art and Community

The Art Warrior Live Painting Competition was not just about the prizes - it was a celebration of artistry, community, and the power of creativity to bring people together. The event offered artists a platform to showcase their talents, connect with fellow creatives, and engage with an audience that truly appreciates the arts.

Art Warrior Philippines extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible, especially our sponsors, Atua Midtown and Art Caravan, for their unwavering support. Special thanks also go to Zak Villar and DJ Nadine Garcia for their contributions in making the event unforgettable.

As the dust settles on this inaugural competition, we look forward to more Art Warrior events that will continue to inspire, empower, and celebrate the artistic spirit. Congratulations to all the participating artists!

Mark your calendars! The next Art Warrior event is set for Saturday, January 25th, once again at Atua Midtown, as part of the annual Sinulog Festival held every third week of January in Cebu. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to witness more breathtaking artistry and community spirit!

About Art Warrior Philippines

Art Warrior Philippines is a series of live painting events where artists compete in front of an audience. Each event begins with two preliminary rounds featuring six artists each. In each round, artists have 20 minutes to paint anything they want, in any style. Meanwhile, the audience enjoys drinks and music from a live DJ, observing the creative process and voting for their favorite paintings.

The top two artists from each round advance to the final showdown, where one is crowned the Art Warrior Champion of the evening. These events are held monthly at various locations around Cebu. The winner and 1st runner-up from each event will qualify to compete in the National Art Warrior Philippines Championship finale in December 2025.
