On December 16, 2023, Japs Avelino became the Art Warrior Philippines Champion 2023 during an electrifying final showdown of this year's Art Warrior winners and runner-up's.

Japs is a self-taught artist by calling and is currently living in Boracay island. He is originally from Oriental Mindoro. During his younger years in Puerto Galera, he was influenced by many mentors which enhanced and honed his skills in painting.
